The dreamy promise of technology was that it would take care of the mundane parts of life, and help us be so much more efficient that we would have extra time to spend on the things we actually enjoy.

The reality is that we're printing more than ever, working longer hours, and loneliness rates are higher even though we've never had more ways of being connected.

We also have more distractions than ever, fueled by an entire industry that's built on selling your attention, and the new soundtrack of everyone's life is a perpetual orchestra of pings, dings, and other bothersome things.

We created this series of graphics to give you something nice to look at while you learn some facts about distraction — seeing as you were already distracted anyway.
